How QUEST Builds Lifelong Skills

Three students learning career ready skills by working together to solve a QUEST challenge

Lifelong skills are the essential abilities that help people thrive in their personal, professional, and social lives. They include personal qualities and interpersonal skills that support learning, sharing knowledge, and adapting to change. For new graduates, these skills provide a pathway to success in college, career, and beyond.

The World Economic Forum identifies personal and interpersonal skills as critical for career readiness in 2025, with ten of the top fifteen skills being "durable" skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, leadership, and adaptability. Although most school districts acknowledge the value of these skills in their Graduate Profile, much of students’ traditional classroom learning falls short of preparing them for the real world.

QUEST’s Uniquely Engaging Approach to Skills-Building

QUEST, a Pre-K-8 social-emotional learning solution, helps students master these skills early, giving them a head start on the path to lifelong success. With an immersive storyline and hands-on activities, QUEST transforms skill-building into an engaging adventure. This experiential approach enables students to practice and transfer these skills, turning them into lifelong assets.

Collaboration Builds Personal and Interpersonal Skills

Throughout their QUEST experience, students work in teams to solve complex problems, navigate different perspectives, and manage shared resources. The focus on teamwork organically fosters personal and interpersonal skills including self-management, communication, and empathy. Within their teams, each student has the opportunity to step into different pre-defined roles, learning both how to lead and how to be a more active listener and cooperative team member.

Creative Problem Solving Encourages Innovation

QUEST ignites creativity by encouraging students to experiment with a variety of problem-solving approaches, with the understanding that their initial ideas may not always work. Students are compelled to think outside the box, use lateral thinking, and collaborate meaningfully with teammates to find less obvious solutions. Students are also prompted to make predictions about the central mystery in the storyline, improving their ability to understand causality and make connections.

Adaptability is a Cornerstone of Success in Life and Work

Adaptability and resilience are key outcomes of QUEST. As students face diverse challenges across episodes, they learn to adjust their strategies and become comfortable with setbacks. Adopting a growth mindset allows students to learn from their experiences and continuously improve.

QUEST Builds Lifelong Learners

Curiosity is the cornerstone of QUEST. The central mystery of the storyline, combined with the hands-on challenges to solve, ignite learners’ innate impulse to explore, understand, and seek answers. By providing students with a high degree of autonomy, QUEST encourages them to follow their curiosity and take ownership of their learning, laying the foundation for a lifelong pursuit of knowledge and growth.

QUEST goes beyond traditional learning by immersing students in a dynamic experience that builds the lifelong skills they need to thrive in an ever-changing world and fulfill the promise of your district’s Graduate Profile.
